[android-developers] New Android Market client - which phones?

Ok, so my Samsung Galaxy S running 2.2 updated to the new Market app
yesterday.

Two phones with Android 2.1 are still running the old version.

Is the new Market app only for 2.2 and later? Anyone have info on this?
Or seeing it on a pre-2.2 phone?
