[android-developers] capture frames from camera

I am writing an Android app for video processing. As a first step, I
need to capture frames in real time.I have tried OnPreviewFrame
callback. It gives me 640x480 at around 12 fps. Is there any other
faster way for frame capturing (e.g. using NDK)?
