Forbidden by X-Frame-Options error in Chrome when running devmode and different host name in URL

I've been running GWT and devmode fine for a while with an external Jetty server.  To test virtual hosts on my dev machine I added stuff like this to /etc/hosts:

    127.0.0.1 foodomain-local.com
    127.0.0.1 bardomain-local.com

With a live server a foodomain.com, I can now test the app locally at:

    foodomain-local.com:8080/

Problem is that when I stopped using localhost:8080, suddenly devmode doesn't work in Chrome. Firefox is okay. (This is Mac OS X.) Urls like this:

    http://foodomain-local.com:8080/?gwt.codesvr=foodomain-local.com:9997
    http://foodomain-local.com:8080/?gwt.codesvr=127.0.0.1:9997

Give this error in the browser window: "Plugin failed to connect to Development Mode server at 127.0.0.1:9997 Follow the underlying troubleshooting instructions"  As usual there are no troubleshooting instructions, but that's another story.  In the console, the message: Refused to display document because display forbidden by X-Frame-Options.

So, anyway know what that is and how to make it go away?  I set X-Frame-Options for the html host page and that had no effect.

thanks,
Rob
