[Google Maps API v2] put places in a map

Hi all,
I need to check if it is possible what I want to do (actually my client)
I need a scrollable map, and put information about some people in that map
example:
Jhon Doe (Portland, Oregon)
Chris Angel (San Jose, California)
roberto perfumo (Buenos Aires, Buenos Aires) and so on

Is there a way to pass an array of coordinates and texts into a map an display the info as I want?, it not need to be too much accurate, only mark the city and the people living in that city.

I will pass an array with elements like this
[text(name of the person), lat, long]
