Yes, that's what is supposed to happen when you refresh. It goes back
to the original state of waiting for the viewer to type in an address,
before displaying a marker.
If you want it to behave differently, you will have to write code to
do that. What do you want to happen? Remember the most recent
address this particular viewer typed in? Remember the most recent
address any viewer typed in? Always showsome pasrticular place to
begin with?

However - it's really unwise to develop a new webpage now using
version 2 of Maps API.
