JOB SUMMARY
Coordinate physical changes to computer databases; code, test and implement physical databases, monitor and schedule loading routines and data movement by performing the following duties.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop and maintain high standards in establishing procedures and policies to address routine jobs and certain resolution protocols
• Ensure compliance in related tasks with company and regulatory policies and procedures and deliver on-call support for critical database applications as needed
• Setup and configuring databases according to internally documented standards
• Identifying potential service level problems before they occur and notifying appropriate parties
• Create written reports of findings and recommendations on performance analysis, feasibility studies, and proof of concept evaluations
• Performing capacity monitoring and short and long-term capacity planning in collaboration with development resources, system administrators and system architects
• Keeping the database up to date on patches and supporting the roll-out of new versions
• Schedule and coordinate Database jobs, monitor progress and completion of all jobs and take corrective actions as necessary.
• Schedule and coordinate movement of data between database instances, monitor progress and completion of all movement and take corrective actions as necessary.
• Architecture/logical/physical design, security, documentation, installs, backup and recovery, monitoring and database and query tuning with Oracle databases.
• Work with developers to test applications and implement changes into production.

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
• 5 to 7+ years' experience of Database Administration, Database Design, Performance Analysis, and Production Support
• Preferred industry related certifications
• Unix shell scripting ( a must)
• Excellent communication skills and proven documentation skills
• Proven ability to work in a dynamic team environment, ability to work closely with internal customers, developers and with cross-functional teams and willing to accept new challenges
• Proven ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
• Should have good experience in installation, configuration, upgrading and patching of Oracle server software and related products
• Experience with Backup and Recovery methodologies and tools (RMAN preferred)
• Working knowledge in setting up physical data guard and streams is a plus
• Experience with Oracle database performance and tuning (AWR reports, explain plans, 10G Advisors)
• Experience working in a PeopleSoft environment and portal is a major plus
• Strong understanding of business continuity and disaster recovery processes and procedures
• Ability to manage conflicting priorities effectively
• Experience in UNIX environment (HP, SUN, Linux)
• Experience with Oracle RAC on Red Hat Linux preferred
• Ability and willingness to work effectively in a business-critical production (24/7)
• Experience with OEM (Oracle Enterprise Manager) and Grid Control
• Staying abreast of the most current release of Oracle, including compatibility issues with operating systems, third party software and utilities
• Must be a self starter with a strong work ethic
• Should be a team player and willing to be on-call on rotation basis
• Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
• Ability to work well and communicate with users
