[Rails] Working with JavaScript

Hi,
I turn this code into CoffeeScript:

paintIt = (element, backgroundColor, textColor) ->
element.style.backgroundColor = backgroundColor
if textColor?
element.style.color = textColor

and this code I turn to html.rb

<a href="#" onclick="paintIt(this, '#990000')">Paint it red</a>

it not worked fine, I see the link but it's not Paint it red!

What Did I Do Wrong?
