Buddhist funeral rites and rituals are filled with religious significance for Buddhists. Before the cremation, one of the family members or closest kin has to say something about the deceased person. Following the cremation, a light feast is arranged for the people gathered at the funeral.
A great number of people in China, Tibet, Thailand and a few other Asian nations with a large Buddhist population follow the Buddhist funeral tradition with some slight alterations according to the local customs.
