I have some preliminary results, but my camera battery ran down so I
couldn't run to an end.
So far
- with VFD putting out 360 Hz (its max, not 400 as previously stated)
the motor spins to 10,700 rpm easily & "smoothly". 10,800 is nominal
- ran for 10 minutes before losing battery
- drew .35A
- the closed end bearing warmed somewhat. Maybe to 80F
- running at 10,700 is kinda scary so I bolted it down. I kept thinking
about the rotor jamming & transferring its rotation to the case.
- at 10 sec decel time I was getting over voltage on the VFD's DC bus &
had to increase to decel time
The VFD is rated 2 HP (8A) & the motor is 1 HP, so I should be able to
force it into regions that it won't like <G>.
I'm going to decrease the accel time as short as I can to see if DoN's
thought about not starting is true. 'Course short accel time is still
not same as applying 360 HZ.
Stay tuned,
Bob

I'll bet it self-destructs at something like double speed for any
length of time. Flames are likely.

I have no experience with those particular set, but if I had it to do
over again, I'd see if I could afford two stage regulators instead of
single phase regulators. The acetylene regulator wanders and always
has since it was new. I typically have to readjust the regulator a
couple of times till it holds the correct pressure without continuing
to climb. I was told that two stage regulators don't do that.

Tort reform is a bullshit issue that can be dealt with after a healthcare
bill is passed and signed.
In Florida its no issue.
Drs can opt out of carrying insurance...most that I've seen do opt out.

People of both parties love to get money for their district/state.
The people and local governments want and expect something.
Look at the stimulus bill - the biggest and widest pork barrel
bill by the democrats in years. It is as if they were saving their
wish list for years. Has any of it hit the towns yet ?
We got some IKE money - nominal amount but something.
Control doesn't mean black and white. It means responsible spending.
Responsibility for ones doing is important.

Not me, by then I was building expensive toys for the Air Force to
play with. I worked for a student filmmaker in the 60's and a USO and
then community theatre group in the 70's, all part time. I ran the
projector for the classes the filmmaker taught and learned a lot.
We had our own imitation of Warhol's "factory" in the off-campus
hippie village for a while, but I got no nearer to the craziness than
holding the lights during filming. The talented hotties have all the
fun with each other, the crew only gets to watch. All this while
studying for a Chemistry degree. The only course I couldn't pass was
technical writing, which is why I practice here.
In addition to Joss Whedon I'd like to see Brian Fuller and Baz
Luhrmann succeed with a mass audience. You'll never look at Michael
from Lost the same way again after seeing how Luhrmann had him play
Romeo's friend Mercutio IN DRAG. Don't watch it if guns offend you.
The two families were like rival crime syndicates, better armed than
Mad Max, and even Juliet packed a Walther.

Yes, it does feel as you described. I have seen some of the places
pictured 70-80 yrs later, it is spooky.

The GREAT depth of field is caused by a VERY small apature lens.
Perhaps even a pin-hole camera. Everything is in focus, from the very
nearest object to the furthest mountain.
Great photos! Thanks, Ig.

Sounds like the power window/door lock harness in the '83 Dodge Aries
we had. The harness was routed across the floor pan just ahead of the
seat bulkhead in the lowest part under the drivers feet, all joints
were spot welded and loosely wrapped with fabric tape. I had to
rebuild the entire harness and by the time I got done talking to the
"customer service ombudsman" he wouldn't even admit to having ever
learned to ride a bicycle, let alone drive a car.

I use my old wood lathe as my power source for my straight wire wheel.
I make adapters on my metal lathe as needed. I can make any size
hole work, but I can only swing 8" on the wood lathe. The little
angle grinder is metric 10 x 1.5 so I made a 1/2-13 adapter for that.
The bigger grinder is a standard 5/8-11 spindle. The 4" hand held is
dedicated to rust removal with an import knotted wheel with 0.011"
wire. Thanks for considering looking around to see if you have
anything suitable. I know you don't normally do retail.
