[android-developers] Can't Get Google APIs on Eclipse Android SDK for Macintosh
Can't Get Google APIs on Eclipse for Macintosh
Hello,
I've successfully installed Eclipse and most of the Android SDK on
both my Windows and Macintosh computers. On the Macintosh, the Google
APIs are not listed in the SDK Manager as they are on the Windows
computer. I'd prefer to do my development on the Mac because it is
faster. Can you tell me how to get those to show up, please?
FYI, it was somewhat difficult doing the Macintosh installation
because the version of Java that's installed on the Mac is older than
that on the Windows computer. So, the version of Android Development
Tools and DDMS is somewhat older on the Macintosh. I'm running v18.0.0
on Windows and v 16.0.1 on Macintosh. I'm running Mac OSX v. 10.5.8.
(I would hope that that shouldn't make a difference!) In any case, I'm
reluctant to do a software upgrade on the Mac because it was pretty
difficult to downgrade it to v 16. And, I'm not sure that that's the
issue any way. As far as upgrading Java on my Mac, it's my
understanding that that's entirely up to Apple, and that I cannot
upgrade Java Apple doesn't push out a new release. Please let me know
if there is a way to upgrade Java without waiting for Apple.
Downloading Java updates from the Apple web site for OSX 10.6 or
higher don't work on my Mac. (BTW, the reason I had to downgrade is
because I was getting weird compilation errors. I tracked down the
source of the problems on the web, and found that there is an
incompatibility between the latest version of the Android Tools and
older versions of Java.)
Any idea how I can get the Google APIs to show up?
Thank You!
Robbie
