Best way to build a menu according to the users permissions

Hi,
I would like to know if someone has found a "best" approach to manage django-user permissions and build an permission-based menu.
I know It's doable with jquery/javascript and others, but i wouldn't like to depend on javascript to show/hide critic items.
Also, a lot of {% if perms %} is not acceptable.

Any generic solution arround there?
