I don't need to look, I know what the machines look like.
You replied to my post about generator parts, welding generator parts
availability with a comment about the engine charging system. Pretty simple
really, I'm talking about the generator. On a welding machine. A really
critical part.

There are so many "just one" items around. Fire

Rotary rasp or file tool

bear spray when hiking

Other items?

AKA bear repellant, AKA pepper spray, it burns without combustion.
There have supposedly been instances where noobs have applied it like
mosquito repellant. I prefer units with a heavy lead content, myself,
say 10mm to 12 ga. In some states you can get bear repellant where
pepper spray is outlawed. Same cans, different lettering.

But if slow enough would keep the interference zone oiled without dripping.

Actually, the hinges on some swinging windows in my 1929 house are interesting.
The staples are galvanized steel, and the pins are solid brass. This worked
while exposed to the elements and left unlubricated for 70 years. So, being HSM
types, we can make new brass hinge pins. (I'm guessing one cannot buy solid
brass hinge pins any more, only steel with a cosmetic thin bras plating layer.)

If you have a website, put them there and use the link in a post here
to tell us where to look. Otherwise, set up a free gallery on one of
the free photo sites like www.picasaweb.google.com , www.flickr.com ,
www.photobucket.com , www.snapfish.com , or www.shutterfly.com .

Most people leave them up. Steve B's pics seem to disappear after a
week or so for some odd reason. (He's near Las Vegas, so it may be
gambling related. ;)

Someone else told you about the www.metalworking.com/Dropbox .

The issue is that if I apply any significant force on the half nut
lever, the pin would bend. I just spoke to Clausing, they no longer
have those pins, but can supply drawings for $5. Since replacing them
is such a pain, I should be careful with the one I have now.

To stay safe, I may change the handle on the half nut lever, to
something very tiny that would be very difficult to force. Maybe a 1
inch long handle made of a socket head cap screw. That would be harder
to accidentally force enough to bend the internal pin. It will not
look as great, but it will keep me safe, and I will of course save the
old handle.

I have almost completely reinstalled the apron/carriage assy.

Nice pix! From a plane, I presume?

In pix 1 & 3 (on the road) - are they moving? If so, how fast (they are
really close together)? Also if so, how come no dust is coming up -
those roads don't look paved.

How's their safety record? An accident is probably spectacular.

BTW - you could make great panoramas with stitching software. I've used
the free Microsoft research version:

Without knowing anything much about ultralights (beyond they look fun
but dangerous) wouldn't the obvious source of lightweight engines in
that power range be motorcycle engines?

And on the other foot, we have the jackass who advertised a free item
and then asked me if I would "beat the $20 offer" on it. I don't love
the bait and switch, so I declined forcefully.

Good video, thanks for the link; and, congrats on your acquisition,
looks like a nice machine.

But, the video brings up this change of subject:

I'm on dial-up at the house so don't even try to watch any videos
there, but at work we have DSL, so I was able to view it - the couple
times I started the video, it would run for a few minutes, then sort
of freeze - after waiting a bit and trying to restart the video to no
avail, I reloaded the page, and did so 3 times to get to about the 25
minute mark. I next tried clicking on the ad link after starting the
video (so some google ad stayed visible at the bottom of the video
window) and it then proceeded to play for the full duration.

So, the question for the group is, does this sound like the normal
'youtube' experience, or is there something else I could have done to
make the video display without having to reload the page 5 or six
times?

Thanks,
Mike
