Sorry bud, she is trying but she just isn't in Grace Slicks league. I had to bail at the
halfway point. Not as a bad as Aerosmiths rendition of "Come Together" though.

Good suggestions, but --
It's a two-stroke glow engine and the stock heads have a built-in glow
element, rather than a separate glow plug.
So casting with jello is out, because it'll stick in the element,
there's no way to access the top of the cylinder without drilling holes
in a stock head (no way!) etc., etc. That's me. Tim The Naysayer.
At this point I'm most interested in duplicating the volume of the
original head; slight errors in the absolute compression ratio that I
calculate as long as I get the _actual_ compression ratio close enough
for things to work.

If what you want is compression, why not build a manometer and measure that?

You could always cast a slug in the head using cerocast and then melt it
back out. Wont hurt the glow plugs.
Measure the CCs or MMs of the cerocast

I'll believe it when I see that the first 25 are sold and flying. It has
been ready for production for the past 10 or more years, yet, it always a
year away from being released for production.

Surprise, Surprise. There is a two seat experimental Helicopter in
Australia that is undergoing flight tests as I write this. It is using the
Deltahawk two stroke diesel engine. see www.deltahelicopters.com.au
Unfortunately the Deltahawk engines are priced right up there with the long
time proven Lycomings. It will take some time to really see if this engine
will demonstrate all the potential advantages inherent in the diesel
concept.

Hey Iggy,
My take on it is that is very specific to the compound formula. We
had urethane roller guides on elevators that after a few years would
get little flat spots just when they sat over a weekend in an office
building and didn't move. First thing on Monday morning they would
rumble like crazy but then smooth out after the first 5 or 6 runs.
These problem ones were then replaced by another urethane product that
didn't have that problem. So it's in the exact formula, and I don't
know how you would find that out without some plain old empirical
testing.
Take care.

Bothwell, Ontario.

What color are they? The softer Urethane will deform but the harder ones
will not. In die work, Urethane is color coded to hardness but I'm not sure
if is an adhered to standard and may even vary per mfgr.

Well, I've always been satisfied by first use of toilet paper. Never tried to reuse it.
Air Bags if they deploy and you walk away.
Then there is the whole aircraft parachute. Same disclaimer as above.
http://www.brsparachutes.com/brs_aviation_home.aspx
Obviously if you fly aerobatic and use your FAA mandated personal chute once, that
qualifies also.
I doubt the Martin Baker ejection seat gets reused.
There is a saw stop technology that can sense your finger touching a table saw blade and
stop the blade. It works once and then you replace it.
Back when I was injecting either fertility drugs into my now ex wife's buttocks or insulin
into my dogs back, I figured one use on a syringe and needle was worth it.
I'm going to toss spare tire in. I've never used the spare for my Saturn, or my escort. I
did once for my Ranger, shortly after the front tire left my truck at 70 mph never to be
found again by me.
If you go through the trouble of taking self defense courses, obtain a carry permit, deal
with carrying issues and need and have it just once. It was worth it.

Ayup. And they are rather cheap if you buy em in 5 packs. Works a treat

True indeed. Very true.

"First Law of Leftist Debate
The more you present a leftist with factual evidence
that is counter to his preconceived world view and the
more difficult it becomes for him to refute it without
losing face the chance of him calling you a racist, bigot,
homophobe approaches infinity.
This is despite the thread you are in having not mentioned
race or sexual preference in any way that is relevant to
the subject." Grey Ghost

Flip between FOX and MSNBC and one network will convince you are in Bizzaro World. Which
on depends on your political leaning.

That is my political moment for tonight. I did put the 4 jaw on my lathe and thread the
makings of a 5C collet stop. I'd have finished it but Glen Beck had an interesting show
tonight. ;) There is always tomorrow night. Oh yeah, ground down a 12 mm wrench so it
would fit my 4x6 saw so I can adjust the guide roller eccentrics.
Scored a couple free 5C collet racks. I unwraped my NIB Lyndex collets and put them in
the first rack.
Tried to turn a chunk of stock with some type AR 1/2" brazed carbide bits I bought from
Enco. Someone forgot to grind in side relief. I watched my tool post rotate away from
the work.
I guess it is time to mount a diamond wheel to my HF baldor clone and shim it to run true
as possible. I need to tweek some bits. Maybe tomorrow.
The snow continues to melt. :)

I bet you get closer on a percentage basis to your RA saws true HP than I will to my 6 HP
