By default adb, only listens on USB. You have to explicitly tell adb to
listen on a TCP port with something like:

adb tcpip 5555
adb connect 192.168.0.101:5555

That has nothing to do with it.

It is a lot easier for 'pirates' to buy a single paid app, break whatever
protection it has and then resell on a '20$/month all you can download'
site. Unless you friend looks like a pirate, you don't have much to
worry about :)

Spaces in Filenames (Theme / Themed / Upgrade Cake 1.3 to Cake 2.0)

Okay so I've hit a problem and I have no idea how to fix it.  In Cake 1.3 a file name like /theme/default/images/my image.jpg would work.  In Cake2.0 the url changes to a standard url in the browser address bar (ie. /theme/default/images/my%20image.jpg - with the space replaced with %20). 

So now I have hundreds if not thousands of image files, and some have spaces in them, and they're all broken.   Because Cake no longer knows the file is there. 

Please note, this does not effect files in the app/webroot directory, but only in the theme directory (aka.  /app/View/Themed/Default/webroot/)  For example /app/webroot/test test.html  will work when called by the url /test%20test.html.

Send Email problem with multiple receivers

Hi all!

I am having a problem, when sending email with multiple reveivers in
$this->Email->to

It will only send to one adress (the first one =>
email_number1@gmail.com), why is that? any suggestions!?!

$this->Email->subject = 'Ma Subject!';

Thanks for the reply. Here's what I currently do when creating the new
SurfaceView:

surface = new MySurface(getApplicationContext());
SurfaceHolder holder = surface.getHolder();
holder.addCallback(surface);
holder.setType(SurfaceHolder.SURFACE_TYPE_GPU);
setContentView(surface);

So it doesn't look like I'm keeping the holder around, at least it
shouldn't unless somehow Android is pointing to the wrong one when
creating a new SurfaceView.

LocalWiki, a crazy-easy-to-use django-based geographic wiki, released!

Folks-

We just made the first general public release of LocalWiki, a really
easy to use wiki that focuses on geographic communities. It's all
Django-based. Check it out:

Django devs will probably want to check out http://dev.localwiki.org
and follow our 'manual' installation instructions :)

But check out how we've packaged the whole project as a single easy-to-
install Ubuntu package. We modeled the management system after Trac,
which seems to be the most widely installed Python-based web app
("localwiki-manage" is an alias to a 'python manage.py' inside a well-
contained virtualenv) Making it this easy to install (for non-
Djangonauts) was a big challenge, but I'm there's some stuff others
can learn.

[Rails] How to use a local copy of rails in a rails application

Sorry for a primitive question, but how can i use a local copy of rails
with my rails 3 application (locally)?

Quick googling didn't help, and on StackOverflow there is something
about putting local rails to the "vendor" directory, but it does not
seem to work for me.

[Rails] routes matching different path for different users.

I want to display different layouts based on user.
If user is "intraOp" the I want to use layout intraOp, if user is
"interOp" I want to display layout interOp while if controller_devise
I want to display application layout.
I based the user selection on request.path.
If request.path is /intraOp then I select user IntraOp, if /interOp
then select user interOp and so on.
The routes.rb is:

match "intraOp" => "companies#index"
match "interOp" => "companies#index"

The problem is that I use pagination.
When the request.path is /interOp companies#index is launched, and are
displayed 10 companies with pagination.
When I click for displaying page 2 companies#index is launched but the
path is not /interOp/companies......... but is
/intraOp/companies.........that is because companies#index is first
matched with "intraOp".
Have you some suggestions to solve the problem to having different
layouts based on user?
I prefer to not create two controllers: intraOp and interOp.

Dianne I appreciate your help in the forums and your hard work on
Android. However, I think you even have to admit that multitouch, at
least in its original form, is a poorly implemented, complicated API.
If they cleaned it up as of Android 3.0, that is good news for devs.

How can I trap for a 404 in my GWTTestCase?

I'm using GWT 2.4. I'm trying to write a GwtTestCase that tests

Have you correctly setup your tecnologia XML file?

For instance if youz want to trigger on type A tags, your XML file

Retrieve object model admin userid & password?

I am working through some authentication examples.

When I created my first database, I "recall" entering a username and
password, but entering what I recall was the correct input is not
authenticating.

Is there an easy way to reset or retrieve the username and password
that was used to create the object model?

converting a large site to Django

Hi,
I am working on a website with many pages (in the hundreds).

I have recreated the website front page on a new server with the
desired new functionality implemented in Python and Django.

All seems good, but what I need to know is what is the easiest/
quickest way of moving across the rest of the website onto this new
server? Will I need an entry for each page in the urls file?

brain was typing audited, fingers apparently decided to do something different or perhaps my dog ate my homework.

Yes, acts_as_audited - evokes a time period when it seemed just about every rails inspired gem was acts_as...

Actually it worked very well (acts_as_audited) but again, that was a rails 0.x & 1.x project

MS Access integration with DJango through conversion to (Postgres or MySQL) xor direct interaction

Good afternoon,

Is there an ORM library for python/django which integrates with MS
Access? - I know SQLalchemy dropped support after 0.4, but maybe
there's another to use?

Alternatively how would I convert one to PostgreSQL or MySQL then
interpret it into ORM syntax for use in i.e. SQLalchemy?

[android-developers] Reverse Geocode on the fritz (again)

Hi all....

It looks like issue 8816 "service not available" (http://
code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=8816) has raised its ugly
head again with the release of Google Maps 6 today.

I'm running the same piece of Reverse Geocode code on Asus Transformer
(3.2.1) and HTC Incredible (2.3.4) in my app (min SDK 6, target SDK
14) and finding that the Asus Transformer repeatedly throws i/o
exception "Service not Available". The HTC Incredible is reliably
returning addresses.

Is anyone else finding the same issue? Anyone got a decent
workaround? (I know all about using Maps API Web Services thanks)

Perhaps someone from Google could fix it whilst they are finishing off
MapFragment?

Extracting structured address information with latitude and longitude

using geo-coding object(JS), 610 error response code is returned under

We have understood that it can be improved by setting license KEY

Hi Mamdoohi,

As others have said when you call your models save() method it will
check validation by default. But if for whatever reasons you want to
do manual validation, here's a few methods that I found extremely
helpful:

$this->YourModel->set($this->request->data);
You can use your models set method(don't confuse this set() method
with the controllers set() method, they are two different methods) to
pass in data. This data won't actually be saved yet, and then you can
manually see if it validates with the following method:

$this->YourModel->validates();
After sending it to your model you can then check if the data you sent
validates using the models validates method. It'll return true or
false if it validated.

There's also a whole bunch of other model methods for validation and
for associated models in the api that you may find helpful:

I took a quick look and I have no suggestions for you, sorry. I haven't touched animations yet.

If you're "very new" to programming and no one else has an answer for you I would suggest you read through the docs carefully for the stuff you're working on (webview and animations), look at the samples, and just play with.

Use your debugger and LogCat output to get a better idea of how everything is working and maybe the issue will reveal itself to you.

How to change WHERE statement for SQL Select.

I know why it's not working, I just cannot figure out how to fix it.

These are my errors:
1. Error: SQLSTATE[42S22]: Column not found: 1054 Unknown column 'id'
in 'where clause'
2. SQL Query: SELECT `Period`.`period_id`, `Period`.`title`,
`Period`.`created`, `Period`.`modified`, `Period`.`user_id` FROM
`periods` AS `Period` WHERE `id` = '51' AND `user_id` = 1 LIMIT 1

The query should be: .... WHERE 'period_id' = '51' AND 'user_id' = 1
LIMIT 1

I am doing the request from /periods/delete/51

Here is my PeriodsController.php

If I remember right a core member once wrote that this is a known
limitation of the current "conditions array" for relations.
Personally, I think this should be addressed in 2.1 as a bugfix to be
fixed (if I add a global condition it should always be applied, no
matter what).

As of right now you probably need to manually join the conditions.
