Hi,
The reason for this type of behavior is probably the conditions that
have been put up to display the listview. Since, I need to change the
background image on certain conditions. Now, after scrolling those
conditions are not satisfied as it should be.
I think this will need to be checked by me only since only I have the
source code.

hello,
i would like to replace my models.py with a package that has a
hierarchical directory structure. in __init__.py i want to define my
base models, and the other files would contain models that inherit the
base models.
in particular i am trying to define proxy models for my models and put
them in to separate files.
the problem is that the user admin system's "change user" screen does
not list the permissions for proxies if they are located in separate
files. if i put proxy classes in to __init__.py and re-run syncdb,
then the permissions get listed. otherwise not. i tried creating
__all__ array in my __init__.py that includes the proxy files, and i
tried importing the files in to __init__.py to no avail.
how can this be done?

Hi,
Did you signed your application?
MapView won't even display in another simulator on other system if its
not signed in the release mode.
I am not sure but please make sure that it is signed and check whether
it helps.

Hi,
I am developing an android application where I need to manipulate the
background image of the rows in listview on certain conditions.
Initially when the listview is loaded all works properly. But when I
scroll down to the listview and come up again the background image
changes. Can someone tell me the reason why its happening so?

I know to use GDirections the Load, Code: load ("from:" + fromAddress + "to:" +

I have deployed several instances of a Rails application. I am now
1) Files which should only be written if there is no corresponding
file in the installation. These would typically be new files that are
being added from the archive.
2) Files which should overwrite corresponding installed files only if
the archive file is newer than the installed file.
The problem is that the tar archive does not allow me to specify the
overwriting rule to be applied on a file by file basis. Thus unless
there is some way to do this that I don't know about, I would really
need 2 tar archives for each update. I see this as being unacceptably
cumbersome. I reason that there must be a better way. Does anyone
know what that better way is (possibly a different archiving tool)?

i'm trying to integrate facebook authentication into my app. facebook
sets a cookie called fbs_xxxx where xxxx is your app id.
but, i can't figure out how to get my hands on that that cookie inside
rails, cookies[] only gives me access to my apps cookies.

Background:
Problem:
Using ACTIONSEND and Intent.EXTRA_STREAM (a) requires the file to be
on sdcard and (b) displays a mail client UI. I found a library called
javamail_lbmod.jar but it is over 1MB large; I feel thats overkill
for
what I need.
Anyone know of a small library or other solution for my issue. I
could
live with the sdcard requirement if I could just suppress the mail
client UI.

I'm fearful this is a really dumb question but I'll go ahead anyway.
My app is starting to need to go beyond basic auth. e.g. when a user
logs in, I need to check various related statuses, provide distinct
messages, set session vars and such like.
What's not clear to me is, if I provide my own login() method (one
that calls auth.authenticate, auth.login etc, and doing my custom
activities as per docs) ... where (how) is it considered best practice
to implement this?

Do I create a separate app dedicated to this task, or simply embed it

Hey,
I have a form on a website that I would like to be submitted remotely
- to not have to reload the whole page. Only the form should update,
so that e.g. error messages can be displayed. Makes sense :)
However, with the current rails.js javascript in Rails 3, the only way
to do this is using
form_for ... :remote => true
and then render a RJS in the controller, which will do... what? Try to
puzzle the form values and error messages into the invalid form?
Instead, I came up with this spontaneous extension to rails.js:

With something as easy as
form_tag ... :html => { 'data-update' =>
'div_with_the_form_to_be_updated' }
I can now have the controller render HTML to update the form when it
has errors, and still RJS if I would like to do some fancy stuff in
case the submission was successful.
I assume this feature should be included in rails.js. It would take
just a few lines of smart modification.
In the far future, ActionView might even be modified to implement the
good ol'
form_tag ... :update => 'div_to_be_updated'
I would love to hear your opinion about this.

why would I be getting this error after submitting my form?
NoMethodError in EchantillonsController#create

Hi there, i'm having problems with the emulator.
I only get a phone signal about a third of the times i start the
emulator.
I've read on these groups that you have to have an internet connection
before starting the emulator.
Since i'm connected to the internet 24/7 :) this is not the problem
I've also read somewhere that you should try do disable all other
network connections (which i've done) and the problem persists.
I'm using Windows 7 and Android 2.1 + API's emulator.

I've set up django-filebrowser in my app without any bugs, I already
r is undefined
the error is in js/tiny_mce/tiny_mce.js
When I tried using js/tiny_mce/tiny_mce_src.js the error changed to f
is undefined.
Not sure why this error is appearing, tried downgrading my tinyMCE
from 3.3.2 to 3.0 that didn't work. Been hitting my head on this for 3
days without any possible sign of a resolution.
Help!!

Plenty in those search results about the differences. Hopefully, now
the data has been made available Google will be able to use it.
One way the API can use the same data is not to use the API geocoder.
If you can get the data and host it yourself you can do your own
geocoding relatively easily; otherwise you'll need to implement a
proxy script so you can get some other service to do it.

Assuming you have a named_route for your logout action, you could try
function bunload() {

}
However, I would point out that unload isn't guaranteed to be called &
is even less likely to call & wait to load a new resource so that you
can kill the session. Additionally, it's usually a mark of spam sites
(they do alert popups), so if at all possible you should avoid
onunload.
In reality, if you are using Rails defaults, the session is all stored
on the client anyway, so there is no server load to have the session
naturally expire when the browser quits (not when a user opens a
different url or closes the window). If you are storing sessions on
the server, you can easily setup a sweeper to clear out sessions not
accessed in some time (or set that as a default in your environment)

Background:
Problem:
Using ACTIONSEND and Intent.EXTRA_STREAM (a) requires the file to be
on sdcard and (b) displays a mail client UI. I found a library called
javamail_lbmod.jar but it is over 1MB large; I feel thats overkill for
what I need.
Anyone know of a small library or other solution for my issue. I could
live with the sdcard requirement if I could just suppress the mail
client UI.

I need to control emulator screen orientation remotely and
change the screen to landscape:
# service call window 18 i32 1
change the screen to portrait:
# service call window 18 i32 0
However, they do not work for me.
Should these commands work? If not, are there any other ways to do so?

Hi,
thank you for reading my post. I've got s simple question: What's the
correct technical term for data which IS NOT calculated and data which
IS calculated regarding database design.
Simple example: saving a user message in a corresponding table vs.
counting all messages of a user.
If you also know the german expressions, you're welcome to post them,
too. :)

I'm trying to display a generated .png plot via send_data(), but it
Some particulars:
I'm running gnuplot through a pipe to generate a plot in .png format.
(I've tested the code by writing its output to a file and displaying it
-- it works.) My Report model receives the .png image as a string:

My Controller uses send_data() to serve up a page:
class ReportsController < ApplicationController

report = Report.find(params[:id])
send_data(report.imagedata, :type => 'image/gif')

[FWIW, without really understanding it, I also tried added an :encoding
=> 'utf8' to the send_data call -- no change.] Finally, my View presents
the result:
<img src="<%= url_for(:controller => 'reports', :action => 'plot')
-%>" />
However, the send_data() call results in a server error:
ArgumentError (invalid byte sequence in US-ASCII):
<internal:prelude>:8:in `synchronize'
.../Ruby/lib/ruby/1.9.1/webrick/httpserver.rb:111:in `service'
So the question: Where do I specify the encoding? And what encoding is
appropriate for a .png binary?
BTW:
"rails --version" => Rails 2.3.5
"ruby --version" => ruby 1.9.1p376
"mysqul --vesion" => Ver 14.14 Distrib 5.1.36
OS = Mac OS X 10.5.8

Info on this error is elusive. It occurs in versions greater than 2.0.
I am firing a one time alarm using a Pending Intent. To create the
PendingIntent I pass an intent (alarm), context and, receiver class
into a function called startAlarm.
alarm.setClass(context, receiver);
PendingIntent alarmIntent = PendingIntent.getBroadcast(context, API_ID
+alarm.getIntExtra(ALARM_ID, -1), alarm,
PendingIntent.FLAG_CANCEL_CURRENT);
I can call the function without error before the alarm occurs ... but
after the PendingIntent has launched I receive
Can't use FLAG_RECEIVER_BOOT_UPGRADE here, when calling getBroadcast()
This occurs with all FLAGS except NO_CREATE.
What exactly is causing this error?

Let's see... I came up with the idea on Dec. 25. (I had lots of time
for thinking about it while sitting in the car on the way to and from

I'm doing everything in Java, but I haven't found performance to be a
problem, at least on my N1. The graphics is all OpenGL, of course,
and the most important thing for performance is not to do any object
allocation at times when you care about speed. And of course you need
to choose algorithms carefully. But I've been doing 3D for a long
time, and I write physics engines for a living, so I have a pretty
good background on how to do that.
Which isn't to say that I'm not eagerly waiting for the Dalvik JIT to
be released. :)

There are several examples included when you download it. They're
more targeted at "showing you how to use it" than "showing off what
the engine can do," but they still do the latter to some extent.
In terms of features, the main elements are rendering, physics, and
infrastructure. Rendering includes scene graph management, lighting,
texturing, mesh creation, etc. Physics currently means rigid body
simulation, including contact modeling and collision detection.
Infrastructure includes running the event loop, managing input, and
things like that. I can go into more detail about any of these you're
interested in.

Hi Peter,
I'm very interested in the possibility of a 3D engine for android -
how long has gamine been around? A few months back I started work on a
3D game - I ported most of the Rokon engine to 3D and started using
that, but because it didn't utilise the NDK it was far, far too slow.
Does gamine have any home other than sourceforge? Can you give me any
more details? Are there demo apps yet?
